Ormskirk Priory RAM No1019

14th December 2017

“In the bleak mid winter”, or in this case a cold wet Thursday night in Ormskirk, members of Ormskirk Priory RAM No1019 met for their December meeting and seasonal festive board. The bright street Christmas lights of Ormskirk led them to the Masonic Hall where the meeting was to be held. WBro Fred Hargreaves RAMGR who is scribe of the lodge not only organizes the meeting but, decorates the tables and sorts out the Carols that are sung during the festive board.

The meeting consisted of the usual business of a lodge and this was followed by the new Worshipful Commander Bro Jimmy Roberts and his new team carrying out an enactment of an Elevation ceremony. The highlight of the ceremony was the excellent presentation of the signs and working tools by two veterans of the Lodge, WBro David Rawcliffe Prov RAMGR who did the signs and WBro John Wallbank Prov RAMGR who presented the working tools. It was an enjoyable ceremony for all concerned.

During the correspondence, the Worshipful Commander presented Bro Garry Derbyshire with his Grand Lodge Certificate. Before closing the meeting Bro Roberts thanked WBro Fred Hargreaves for all his hard work in organizing the whole evening and this was echoed by all those present.

With the meeting closed, it was time for the merriment of the festive board and other actives to begin. It has now become tradition that before dinner mulled wine is served. New to this year was a cake decorating* competition which went down well, or, was this just ‘Fake News?’   The carol singing always goes down well.  It might not always be in tune, (if ever), but it is always done with gusto and feeling.  (Mind you the staff did disappear during the singing.)   Another first for the evening was Bro Garry Derbyshire playing the organ accompaniment for the singers, which everyone was very much appreciated.
